Can he not do something off his own bat like dog-walking, grass cutting, a spare pair of hands when something needs doing? Get some cheap flyers made or put some cards in the local newsagents' windows. .

Would that not be counted as working and signing?

he is volunteering at local charity shop, and has just been offered part time work at national trust property in their cafe, until October. pays slightly better than JSA so as WE DO NO LIKE TO CLAIM BENEFITS IN OUR FAMILY he is accepting this.
I have decided to move out of this 3 bed house in to a 2 bed flat, will save £200 a month, I'll sleep on the sofa, makes no difference to me I barely sleep now anyway.

OP, I think you need to see someone about this, you're obviously stressed and are making irrational decisions.

And I do hope that your son does get a good job soon.

    Stay well.

I'm sorry your son is still having troubles OP, and it's obviously affecting you. Has he tried looking on your local authorities website for positions within a school, such as admin or care taking? This may line up well with when his current job ends. I hope he finds something more permanent soon.

According to previous posts OP was heavily supported by benefits -ie £1200 take home and £800 benefits, rent was £800. £1200 pm for 3 people is more than enough. People often feel the hit when child related benefits (or in this case wages) are lost.

Perhaps a visit to the debt board can help with budgeting.

Also have you informed housing benefit that he lost his job? Depending on your income the fact he is out of work could mean a small increase in housing benefit.

my mistake I though someone might actually be able to advise if there was anything I could claim, as I dont know enough about claiming, and surely it cant be right that I am expected to support my son on only 56 per week he could live anywhere else for that, and when my daughter turns 20 in February2014 I shall be expected to support her for nothing until her college course ends and as she hopes to be a teaching assistant will not find work until the september.
    But heh will try elsewhere...

I haven't finished reading the whole thread so sorry if this ha been said - your daughter needs to apply now...

Schools don't open over the summer, and as such she will not be able to apply or positions as they will not be advertised....

She should also apply for cover supervisor positions - what I would call dinner ladies. (they my be called something else where you are based,,,)

Specialist agencies will allow her to register - but what is her course in - becoming a TA can be hard, and I know that in Barnsley my sister (a qualified teacher) when she was doing uspply was being asked to work as a TA, or even to do days teaching at a TA's rate... (other supply teachers were doing this)... She has now finally got a permanent job as a teacher 5 years after qualifying, and knows 8 teachers who are doing the work of TA's to try to get into schools...

sleeping on the sofa will not help you long term - you will end up suffering with your back as well...

moving would lead to you loosing out on the £100 cheaper rent...

it has been proved that it is easier to get a job when you are already working (you look more desirable to employers), things have already started to look up - it may only be part time, but look at the positives....

Cover supervisors are most definitely not dinner ladies! The former supervises classes (during normal lesson time) where a teacher is absent. The latter, also known as a lunchtime supervisor, supervises at lunch.

And what about the PM I sent you 6 weeks ago with a suggestion of a company local to you who was recruiting people? Did you follow up that lead?

(a "thanks" wouldn't have gone astray...)
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

If one applies to so many jobs without success, they need to consider how to improve the look of their CV or if they get interviews but not the job, they need help with interviewing skills. No point in keep doing the same thing if there is an obvious flaw in the system.

You say you've written a CV for him, has he had someone else looking at it? In any case, he is now gaining experience, so if that is the main issue, this should help him when he continues to apply for jobs.
