Kitchen work top help

We have a new kitchen installed just two months old. We have a Duropal work top which has developed a white stain. We have no idea how this stain has occurred. Please could anyone advise on how to repair.i can't work out how to post photos here. The stain has a white hue to it (work top is black marble effect) smooth to the touch but the rest of the work top has a slightly rough feel to it. Any suggestions as to as to what has caused this is welcome.
Thank you

I'd suggest you make no attempt at repair yourself as this may invalidate any warranty. As it is only 2 months old you should be bringing to the attention of the supplier/installer.

Sounds like a heat damage to me, either a hot pan or I remember my dad having 3 or 4 tops changed in a new building because hot water from tea making was doing this, not sure of the brand of top.

Thanks for replies. I have just had a chat with a repair company. Who are quoting £200+vat to repair. They have suggested that the only way to cause a stain like this, would be to spill heavy duty drain cleaner or similar chemical neat on to the work surface and leave it there for awhile. The only other reason would be a faulty work top. Our choice in work top Duropal was because its supposed to be durable. It can also cope with hot pans put directly on it by accident but they do recommend using a board which we do.
I can't post a photo but our stain looks exactly like a spillage - would a faulty work top produce a mark like this?
I know you all can only take my word for it but no heavy duty chemicals have been used.
I haven't tried to clean it other than washing up liquid.
    Thanks for replies
