Payment by cheque not DD question

in Credit cards
Not sure if this is a tricky one or really straight forward.
I would like to pay my credit card bill this month early and by cheque so would like to stop the usual dd payment going through.
Will my cc company suspend payment for the cheque to clear if I ask them to or cancel the dd to avoid the payment going through?
Thanks as usual

I'd say it hinges on when the payment has to arrive and when you intending to present the cheque. You say you want to pay early, how early is that? If you give the CC company enough notice they should be able to prevent the DD being taken, but I can't say how long that period would be. Your best bet is to ring them up and ask as soon as you can so that you don't end up overpaying in error.0

What do you gain from doing this? There's a high risk of it going wrong whichever way you approach it
Some CC companies will take the full DD regardless of other payments. What does yours do?
If you cancel the DD you then have the problem of setting it up again - that could mean a month when you have no DD set up.
My advice would be don't do it.0 -
They wont show the payment till the cheque clears! Why do you not set up fast payment by internet banking? That way you can pay whenever you want thats what i do0

What is to be gained from this?
They won't credit the value of the cheque against your account until it is cleared!
The only reason you could possibly want to send a cheque is if someone has written it for you???

Don't rely on anything I write as it may be wrong!!!0
