Bit of advice needed
I was hit into from the back and is the fault of the third party. having exchanged details we have tried to resolve privately
this has since broken down due to a dispute over the damage caused. I have taken pictures.
Having spoken to my garage they told me the third party will need to claim on their insurance and once i am given the details such as claim number i then pass this to the garage and they will liase with them for me. They also mentioned Albany Assistance will get involved to help.
my car is probably worth about 1200 and the quote they gave me is 2700 for repair. They told me the insurer may write it off but they prefer to repair this - unsure who has the final say..
I have not informed my insurer yet, i have 6 years NCB and i have protected no claims..I am just worried and unsure if i should inform them, will this go against me or should i leave it with her insurer.
I am totally new to to and worried that if i put a foot wrong it will affect me though no fault of my own.
i am worried i will lose my car
can anyone offer me some guidance as to what i should be doing?
thanks

If the car is uneconomic to repair, then you cannot force them to do so- the loss you have suffered will be for the write off value of the car.
You will need to inform your own insurers in any event, just make it for information purposes only. Personally, I would simply contact their insurers, explain the situation and give them 48 hours to put you in a hire car and begin to inspect the damage or you go to an accident management company.0 -
This sounds like your garage are going to get Albany involved presumably for a bung off them.
Read and understand anything that Albany want you to sign. Especially in relation to any hire car they arrange.
You do need to inform your insurer asap about the incident. Tell them you aren't making a claim and you are telling them for info only.0
