Can Credit Card Companies Supply Purchase Information?

As the title really. I know the statement shows transaction date, amount and where it took place, but can I get the details of the purchase, e.g. 40 litres of diesel?
Thanks.
Thanks.

No, you won't be able to get that information. The card company will have details of the purchase date, amount, security used (PIN/signature/contactless) and the company that took the payment. Card companies don't need to know what you bought, you've got a receipt for that!

No thats what receipts are for they can only tell where and when purchase was made0

A question a lot of people ask on a regular basis.
The answer is NO.....
Only the retailer and YOU know what was bought

If there's a dispute, a copy of the receipt can be requested from the retailer by the card issuer but they're not obliged to send it.0

and some will charge for it.
A dispute we raised with a shop at work wanted £20 to find and fax a receipt to us.0 -
Thanks for the replies. I thought as much. You sometimes hear of people's cards being used illegally and saying that the thieves bought a boat, etc.
The reason I ask is a company employee with a card for diesel has so many payments to petrol forecourts, they must be traveling 50k miles a year, when I know it is about 12k. I suspect he is buying booze, fags and groceries for himself in the same transaction.
I am only a humble employee who happened to stumble upon a statement.0 -

Answer is for only payments with a receipt to be covered for refunds. That will soon prove the case.
Given that these will be PIN transactions. The retailer does not have to supply any info to the card provider.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
Hello, if you suspect wrong-doing you need to raise this with the appropriate department within your organisation and they will take it from there (finance or HR usually), though fuel cards can't usually be used for forecourt purchases other than fuel. If the card is linked to the driver rather than a vehicle they may be fueling someone else's vehicle as well.0

I'd be surprised if the employer doesn't insist on employees submitting receipts for such purchases. HMRC rules would expect them to for VAT claims etc.Damian_Evans wrote: »The reason I ask is a company employee with a card for diesel has so many payments to petrol forecourts, they must be traveling 50k miles a year, when I know it is about 12k. Small company, no such department! It's a credit card, not a fuel card.redpete wrote:I'd be surprised if the employer doesn't insist on employees submitting receipts for such purchases. HMRC rules would expect them to for VAT claims etc.
Never been a receipt submitted! Bit open to being ripped off really.0
