Following on from previous problems with hard disc failure and then the nortons went wierd on me i purchased a new hard drive and mcafee internet security as my nortons had only 6 weeks left to run but after installing new hard drive and installing mcafee im still having problems and have spent time ona premium rate number to mcafee to try and sort it.
New problems started when i went to register mcafee and it hung and apparently the registration wouldnt go through so it told me my licence had expired so the phone call to mcafee they guy told me it was a script error and to run ie reg fix which i done and then to run another one from microsoft a script fixer i think and that then fixed the mcafee problem till i went to reinstall some programmes first being adobe acrobat reader and it kept telling me there was an error and to reinstall which i did with no joy till i switched mcafee off then it installed ok then i tried to put nero back on and again it wont let me this time telling me that there might be a virus stopping the programme running or to try uninstall and reinstall which i have and again the programe works with mcafee off but when i switch mcafee back on i get an error message and i really dont know what the problem could be.
Does anyone know what could be the problem before i have to resort to taking it back but if its my pc im stuck with it till the problem is sorted.
Any help please?

I used to get McAfee for free but sometimes found it to be a hassle when reinstalling, sometimes wouldn't load etc, my only solution was to change to AVG which worked far better and of course no difference in price, changing from one free package to another."She is quite the oddball. There is a problem and i dont know how to fix it, i exchanged mcafee for norton 360 and im having the same problems and i can only get online in safe mode even testing it from windows it failed to find a connection and im wondering if possibly i have a virus somewhere other than the hard drive but i wouldnt know where to look, a nortons scan is bringing up that the system is clean and im protected but when i went into help some items couldnt be displayed as if they wernt there, my other thought is how often can you put windows xp home on your pc? Is it unlimited or do they just allow so many formats then shut things down? as i dont have a recovery partition and never had.
Can anyone please help as ive ran out of options of what to do.The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Ignore whether Norton says your hard drive is clean, it won't pick up most spyware. Go through the malware removal guide, posts 1 to 4. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=133269
Are your upto date with your windows updates? are you running service pack 2? If you couldn't activate windows for installing it too many times it would tell you."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Yes i have sp2, ive tried a couple of other online scans but its throwing up a microsoft error and shuts down, also it tells me i have successfully registered my product online and im not getting any messages telling me it an illegal copy, i think the only thing im missing is the windows verifier download, i will try downloading that incase thats maybe the problem then try running some malware tests as ive been back to the normal windows and it still wont let me online but only in safe mode

It wont let me install anything i tried downloading ad aware but its telling me its a corrupt download just like i was experiencing in the first post. Also tried updating my windows but it wont let me online outwith safe mode and it wont let me either in safe mode so im at a lost now.The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0
