Surely there is a reason that the Insurance Companies charge this? To prevent killing ME.

The stats provide the information, that is why they make these charges.

So DON'T PAY IT, SO THAT YOUR CHILD DOESN'T DIE OR KILL ANYONE......

Then learn, and get experience, and get lower prices! AND THEN THEY DON'T DIE OR KILL ANYONE...

THAT is the REASON the prices exist!

PAY THEM...without experience...that is why they charge...GROW UP....you don't crash or kill people.

Read the statistics before moaning on here, or pay the piper, then complain on here that your child was killed in a car crash, wiping out other people, and you lost your child. Boo Hoo.

    Eh???

As for the bold part, it's kinda hard to get experience when the insurance prices you off the road - unless you want to star on the next series of Interceptors of course!

It's nothing to do with that, Insurers are business so they price their quotes at an amount they can make a profit from judging by their own data. The profit margin before returns from investments would normally be between 5% and -(Minus)10%.

If there was money to be made in young driver Insurance, the market is highly competitive so Insurers would undercut their rivals

So you are saying only newly passed kids drive like idiots, have accidents, kill people etc? How absurd.

What about the middle aged wife who cut me up on the roundabout the other day, or the old bloke who never used his indicators?

There is no hard and fast rule.

Well there is a hard and fast rule - statistics that don't lie, or twist the truth!

The middle aged wife (how do you know she was married?); probably menopausal, having hot flushes; the old bloke never used his indicators, I had an Astra once and the indicators were a nighmare, didnt self cancel, so why use them?

Ban kids from the roads. Most what would be considered 'good' motorists, are actually really BAD. And wouldn't pass the Driving test.

Mainly due to being preoccupied, busy, or ignorant, they need to get there NOW. That is Society.

If it is a major story on the news, a plane has crashed; 200 people dead; think again, that's how many YOUNG people get killed on the roads DAILY !!!

    But not news.

I hope when you slag my statements you take that into account, and pray for the day the Police don't come a nockin. Shows the ignorance of society.

No, you're just tarring everyone with the same brush. You must have been young and newly passed once...

I would assume that you have never heard of this expression:-

"Lies, damned lies, and statistics" is a phrase describing the persuasive power of numbers, particularly the use of statistics to bolster weak arguments. It is also sometimes colloquially used to doubt statistics used to prove an opponent's point.

You might like to ponder its meaning.

Where do you get your figure from? From the last figures I can find, 1,901 people died in 2011, some way off your statement of at least 73,00 (and that's just the young people!)

Also, how would they gain the experience you demand if they were banned from the road in the first place? When would you consider they are old enough to drive? Why is your arbitrary limit better than the one in place?

Insurers don't give cheaper insurance for some utopian 'lets save the children' thing like you seem to think, they do it because they cannot make a profit from underwriting large amounts of young people.

    Ignorance indeed.

200 a day??!! That's 73,000, a year and that's JUST the yound driver's dying. The real total less than 2,000 total road deaths a year for all road users, which is about 5 a day.
