Taking guinea pigs on holiday

Hi all, we have 2 pet guinea pigs, about 3-4 months old, they live outside in a hutch.
We are planning a weekend away at a caravan Friday to Monday and I have nobody to look after them so didn't really want to leave them as I know they would run out of food plus there is a chance of them falling Ill.
I have two options, pay for them to stay at a pet boarding place or take them with us.
I have a large plastic box that I put them in when I bring them into the house out of the bad weather, I'm thinking this would be ok for a few days if I take plenty of hay/food etc
Would that be ok (caravan park ok with pets), has anyone else done the same?
TIA

Many, many, many
years ago when I was a child, we took our guinea pig and Netherland dwarf rabbit when we went on holiday to a caravan park.
My dad had made a lightweight, folding ark for them so they could be on the grass whilst we were at the caravan and a small hutch to keep them secure whilst we were out for the day. They were absolutely fine and we made lots of friends amongst the other kids who wanted to pet them.
ETA: Just make sure they are safe from wandering dogs, etc."Men are generally more careful of the breed(ing) of their horses and dogs than of their children" - William Penn 1644-1718

I used to do this all the time , i would take them when staying with friends for the weekend and they were fine. I used to use a big house cage for them and a folding run to be able to put them outside for an hour or so.
If it was me i would take them............and you can have them on your knee in the evenings:) as well as check they are ok.
Just watch out when you are in the car if you have the water bottles as the water all comes out, if your arent travelling too far they will be fine without water for a short while, if going further stop and give them water every now and again.
:j:j...pigs on holidayYep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0
