Help. We currently have a power cut and my alarm wont stop

hi guys. in desperate need of help here. My whole street has had a power cut and our alarm is going off and wont stop. the electricity is still off and has been since 5am!! i have rang electricity north west and they wont come out as they need more than me to complain before they do anything. does anyone please have any ideas as to how the hell i can stop this??

If the mains power fails then the alarm should operate off the back up battery, which may be failing. But it's sounding, then it should have enough power for you to cancel the alarm?
If it's a monitored service then you need to call your provider. If not you'll need a burglar alarm company to fix it.

The alarm will be sounding from the backup battery in the bell/sounder itself. This is so the alarm can sound even if the cable to the bell is cut.

However the backup battery in the alarm control unit has failed. This provides a 'hold off' voltage to the bell. You need to (get a burglar alarm person to) open the control panel and replace the failed battery with a charged one.

The bell/sounder may also be overdue for replacement as it should have a built-in timer to stop it sounding continuosyly for more than 20 minutes to comply with noise nuisance legislation.

If you're going to replace the bell/sounder anyway then a ladder and some squirty foam may come to your assistance in helping to abate the noise.

They will attend a single report of loss of supply, but will need you to check some things for yourself. If neighbours are affected and you have told them they will attend

When I first read this I thought you wanted Electricity North West to stop your alarm sounding but I see from other posts that it was to get power resumed. Silly me.

Have things been sorted out now? How did you arrange things eventually? Could be useful information for others. Thanks.
