I bought a 2TB version of this Seagate external drive and I have been so pleased with it I've just bought another one

The problem with these is that they require a separate power supply. I prefer drives that are powered by USB only (easier to use away from home as you're not lugging around a power brick / cable, and they're much smaller)
I bought a 1TB Hitachi Touro USB3.0 drive a couple of weeks ago for £53. Does the job for me.0 -
I use a buffalo 1TB external drive
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Buffalo-MiniStation-Slim-Portable-Drive/dp/B008A1C0CW/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
and this is powered by USB and works fine.
Also no problem using it with Linux based operating systems such as Linux Mint or LXLE.0 -
