I bought a 2TB version of this Seagate external drive and I have been so pleased with it I've just bought another one
As you can see, they are available in different sizes although there are some Windows issues with drives larger than 2TB (This article refers http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2581408).
The two things I really like about these drives are the very quiet running and the fact that they have a USB3 port and lead which is of course backward compatible with USB2. My new Dell desktop came with USB3 ports and I've been very pleased with the speed of backups / data transfer.

looks likw 2TB is the current "sweet spot" in terms of £/Mb
1 TB £51
2 TB £64
3 TB £90
4 TB £1500 -
Yes, it made no sense to me to settle for a 1TB when for just a few pounds more I could have double the capacity. You have to go some to fill 2TB... DaveHappily retired and enjoying my 14th year of leisureI am cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.Bring me sunshine in your smile0

I have lots of videos, Photos (Originals and Processed) and Music all of which takes up a fair bit of room ... and then I have three computers from which I regularly take an Image Backup of all the content.
Even so there's plenty of room left which is comforting to have.... DaveHappily retired and enjoying my 14th year of leisureI am cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.Bring me sunshine in your smile0 -

RAW photos from photoshoots, each image is 35 to 40MB, might take 800 to 1200 at an event, that's 28GB to 48GB of data for one day of work, that's before cataloguing, retouching and creating final end-user JPEGs. Scale that up to a year and you can eat up multi TBs in the blink of an eye...0 -
Has anybody experienced problems with any of these external drives with a linux setup on their computer.Peel back your baby's eyelid to find no nationality or religious identity mark there. Peer at your baby's eyes for them to reflect back just people-throw away your flags and religious symbols...0

Well this is because you are assuming people are using storage like you do. People have different needs, interest, hobbies, ets. See for instance
- One blue ray video takes around 10GB
- One HD video takes around 5 GB
Video Collection
A collection of James Bond HD videos. This is just one series collection. So if you have many collections like this do your math how many bytes do you need.
Have got idea now ??0 -

I haven't had any issues, I have external HDD's that are formatted with FAT32 and NTFS and they work fine with Linux. I've noticed that some manufacturer's will usually always mention that the drive works with Windows "X" but usually never mention support for Linux but usually work fine with Linux.0
