What questions should I ask/what should I look for - renting

I am going to start looking at properties to rent.

What questions should I ask and is there anything I should look for at the property?

Also, if I were to rent somewhere, is it ok to change the locks or do you have to get permission from the Landlord?

If you are unfortunate enough to have to rent through an agent ask them for. Full scale of fees for the whole tenancy .
First off all try to find a private landlord ,look online check shop windows local papers and your local council accredited landlord scheme .
You will save a lot of money but you will have to hunt them down.

Also I forgot look on Facebook if you put in the search landlords groups you will find groups like Huddersfield landlords where members post their properties you can also post your requirements on here as you can on private landlord diectory's Facebook page

As above - have a look through the sticky. Make sure you take a tape measure with you as well as your furniture measurements if you will be bringing your own things. Also don't expect too much from the agents, I am not being pessimistic here but having dealt with them when looking at rental properties none knew much if at all about the properties I was viewing :-(( Good luck x
