  • Hi SueRob

I forgot to say that the chicken paste, stock etc was after 2-3 meals - but 7 meals - that's impressive! :T

  • Had a large bottle of cologne for Christmas without a spray nozzle. This morning I transferred some of it into a hairspray bottle and hey presto body or room fragrance at the touch of a button.

    Then I saw your listing!

I use a meduim chicken, we have one brest sliced with stuffing for Sunday supper with roasties etc, then the legs for supper the next day, salad or as a chicken casserole and the remaining breast chopped up with a chopped onion, sultanas and a tablespoon of mayonnaise stirred in with jacket spuds and some sort of salad for another supper, the carcass with the wings in the pressure cooker with onions carrots and peppercorns 30 minutes, a pot full of stock for freezing or making into soup for lunch, with leeks and lentils in will make at least 2 lunches for the two of us with some HM bread.

This is really bad for the w/machine. And cutting dishwasher tabs in half is bad for the d/washer.

Reason? The wm will build up a really nasty gunky mess made mostly of body grease _pale_ which eventually blocks the machine in an expensive way! :p And you will be cutting down on all the stuff in the powder, for both w/m and d/w, which helps the heater not to become all furred up and white like the one in the Calgon advert. (Calgon is totally unnecessary if you use the right amount of powder).

Honest, OH was a domestic appliance engineer for many years, and says the best way to ruin these machines is not to use enough powder!!!

Well I have been doing it for years and had no problems with either of my machine gunging up. It could be do with the fact that once a week I use a 60 or 90 degree wash for towels/bedding/underwear.

It could also to do with the fact that I use vinegar in my final rinse. The machine I had before this one lasted 5 years and that was second hand. And my current one is about 5 years old and is still working fine.

So sorry I am not about to change what I do. As it works for me and I have no problems. But I am sure that someone will find the information useful. I also suspect that most of the machines your OH saw no one ever used anything other than a 40 degree wash. As that will make a big difference.

    Yours

I can make a weeks worth of meals from a chicken,
Roast Chicken with all the trimmings
    2 x Chicken Ham & Mushroom Pies
    2 x Chicken Soup
    Special Fried Rice
    Carbonara
    7 meals from 1 chicken!!

I bought a chicken from Tesco's on Friday which was on offer at £1.99. It's done 2 x roast dinners, 2x chicken stirfry's, and there's enough for 5 days worth of packed lunches...not a bad buy. I wasn't expecting much flavour from it but it's been the tastiest we've had in a long time...I'll be looking out for another this week!! :heartsmil

I do this with fruit teabags.

One bag is usually too weak for me so I use a teapot, put 2 bags in and then add a third for top-ups.

Ordinary teabags I use twice anyway as I like weak tea!
