been with them 11 years on the initial card at 27.9apr I belive
just rang them to say I basically felt I was not valued as a customer, they apologised, reduced my rate to 19.9 apr and gave me £50 on my account, now this is customer service in my view - so thank you Barclaycard.
***edit this was only after I asked to be put through to cancelations, the first guy told me no deals and I cant lower your apr !

Similar situation to me - I had an initial card with a rubbish limit of £250 - had it for years. I rang them to cancel and they asked what they could do to keep my business, I said "well you could raise my limit to say £3k and give me a 0% BT for I could transfer some other balances".
Lady said she would pass my request to the underwriters and get back to me.
She didn't get back to me but I checked online and my limit has been increased to £3k... no BT offer mind you so I'll phone them tomorrow and tell them the £3k limit is useless to me without the BT.
Barclaycard make no sense to me at all.0 -

Not sure if I would call that good customer service. They were perfectly happy to leave you on a crap rate for years and only agreed to reduce it (but still leave it pretty high) when yo threatened to leave after having been effectively lied to by the first CS operator.
If you have a good history with them stretching back for 11 years then surely they should be able to offer you something like the simplicity card at 6.9%?0 -
Sounds pretty miserable to me! I got my first CC with them on the Initial card about 6 months ago... I'd hate to think it'll be 11 years before I get something with a more favourable interest rate. I'm thinking more like a year.
Just shows how you pretty much have to chase a company and threaten to leave before they'll consider what you think.0 -
hi, on reflection probably not a cracking deal, but after years on 27.9 its a nice drop to 19.9, and yes they did effectively lie when you look at it that way
as for credit limit they have slowly raised it them selfs to currently £2100.
think a email to them might be better to see what else they can do, 14.9 would be a fair apr in my mind.
and to show them I mean business ive just bt 1k to this card, leaving a balance of about £10 (just for info I have dd for mp set up but also so them 50 quid a week)
so they should see that Im happy to close this account, but I really have no intention of closeing this account, as I do have a spotless 11year history with them0 -
Personally I would clear balance and go elsewhere and close the account. If u like them so much reapply as a new customer in 6 mos.
Did this with MBNA when offers dried up. Reapplied 6 mos later - 2 yr 0% balance transfer offer with limit of £15k.
Will do same with BC if no further offers when current one ends. When I said I would cancel BC got a 0 % on Bt for 20 mos.0
