Why would it be strange to walk to work in a suit. Lot's of people go to work and in some jobs you have to wear a suit...

Not odd at all. You'll just look smart, professional and an office worker walking to work. It's the norm in the places I have lived anyway. I'm not sure where your family/friends are coming from.

I see where the OP is coming from... if you live in a run down or workshy area, and especially if you live in a street/area not known for working... then it can be an obstacle course getting to and from work without encoutering these types, who think you're loaded or posh or arrogant -yup, all because you're wearing a suit.

It depends what the 'suit' is? If it is a business suit then you are OK. If it is a gorilla suit and you are walking past a zoo, then you have a problem. If it is your Birthday suit, well that is usually the sign of an epic night out.

There is nothing at all wrong with that! What if you were unable to drive and had to walk to work?

Sounds like a good idea to me, save money and get exercise on a daily basis. Unless of course your family and friends are going to offer you a lift there and back every day to save the "embarrassment"!!!

Not particularly odd, so you'll look smart in the street and if your co-workers are cheeky enough to question why you're not driving a shiny Bentley to work they you reply "to save tons of money on petrol and parking"

Personally I would not walk to work in a suit, i would wear a jogging outfit (if i only had that distance travel for work i'd jog there and back) or something more casual and comfortable, then change when at work.

It's not your co-workers concern what you wear during normal commuting/your free time, if you would suffer embarrassment from it just wear whatever your comfortable with, and then during work hours dress appropriately.

Only thing I would say is if you're paranoid like myself, don't dress like you may have money to steal.
