use abroad restricted

I have Zero One Santander card which I use when abroad as it attracts no fee.

I am going on a cruise at end of week and will be visiting 8 countries. I rang Santander today to log that fact. I was informed that I can only use my card within 5 different countries in a 90 day period and was asked to elect 5 countries out of the 8????

Has anyone come across this before? I have searched their web site and googled the restriction but come up with nothing that states this. I find this hard to believe.

I also logged 2 other cards with no problems, but they attract fees.

You could contact them again for confirmation, the response could be different from a different person.

Alternatively just work out which countries you can use it in most efficiently, for example countries where euros or dollars can be used in neighbouring countries or subsequent destinations.

Yep.... I was told something similar.

But I have long since stopped telling them where and when I'm going. It rarely gets blocked. And of course, even if you do tell them in advance, it could still get blocked anyway.

Have a backup method just in case!
