Are you sure you can not get adsl on a PAYG line?
Have you tried other service providers for your ADSL only?
If BT (openreach) installed a new line for you then I think you are tied to a contract with BT..?

The credit scoring hasnt anything to do with having a phone line in the past (though if you had one in the last 12 months we can just avoid the credit check), its just a general credit check.

If you have the BT Pay and Call system then its a 12 month contract on it before BT will switch you onto a normal line.

    Is your line already active?

  • i do have an active line but its a pay as u go line so therefore i cannt get broadband on it (unless anyone knows different) i phoned up toucan too try and swicth over too them for line rental, calls and internet after some too'ing and fro 'ing between me them and bt i thought i had it sorted

however when i rang toucan today too confirm my order and ask about an activation date i was told there was a problem and my order had been canceled after being past around toucan for a bit they told me there was a marker on the line and too fone bt

bt said yes there was a marker on the line and basically the only way too get rid of it would be too go back too a normal bt line however i refuse too do this cos in order too do this i would first have too settle an outstanding debt with bt who basically cut me off due too an unpaid bill of £40 reason i didnt pay it was cos i never got the bill told them this and there response was too cut me off and charge me for the entire yrs contract (around £300) which i was and still am both unwilling and unable too pay

so is there any way for me too get a normal line in or too get broadband on the pay as u go line iv currently got?

By taking the payg landline you would have signed another years contract.BT would expect you to pay for the rest of the contract or £70 whichever is less, before you could move it to another supplier, and convert it to a normal landline
  • right update

iv now transferred my line rental and calls on too toucan

but i still cannt get broadband

toucan say its because bt has a marker on the line

bt say its because bt has a marker on the line

toucan say phone btwholesale too get rid off the marker

bt wholesale said and i quote "we donnt deal with people" (!!!!!!???? cuse me arent u a telecommunications company??????) "we only deal with ISP's get ur ISP too phone us"

    toucan said phone bt wholesale

how the *#@& can i get rid of the marker that bt put on my line but wonnt speak too me about and that toucan tell me too speak too bt about?

To think if you had had direct debit set up on your BT service to begin with you wouldn't have not paid the £40 bill and you wouldn't have got stung and be in this mess.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

Frictionaddiction.... see if you can cancel the contract with BT first and if you can, contact Bulldog for a new line. Bulldog does not require BT line and will set up their own phone line. Rental is cheaper and super fast broadband also available. Else... write to a BT Customer Service Managers explaining your situation, why the previous bill was not paid and if they can sort something out for you...
