Applying for too high an overdraft

With Halifax, when filling out an application, it asks you how much of an overdraft you want to apply for.

If this is higher than the max they are willing to supply, do they:
  • Refuse the application completely;
  • Offer a lower overdraft;
  • Offer the current account on it's own

    They've just refused mine, I've no idea why. I only asked for £300 I believe. They approved the Reward account though.

    What sort of timeline did you have for your application - as in, how long from applying did the refusal take?

    PS. I have a Clarity Card and a mortgage with them and I'm debt free so it's really funny that they refused my overdraft. I don't care much, as I don't need it, but still :)

    Oh, they approved my account the next day, and it said £0 overdraft limit online (as I have other accounts with them - see above - the Reward acct simply appeared in the list on my online acct).
