Lawyers and Surveyors

We've had an offer accepted and I've obtained a few quotes from Lawyers and Surveyors in the areas. This is all new to us so does anyone know of rough base prices we should be aiming for with Lawyers and base prices for full house surveys for Surveyors?

With a solicitor costs can vary & a lot depends on the price range you are buying/selling at & whether properties are freehold or leasehold.

The actual charge to compare with quotes is what the actual legal fee is as most of the other costs are pretty standard. Be careful though when comparing as some things can be added extras, such as filling out SDLT form, while some solicitors have this included in legal fee.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

We completed a few weeks ago and the solicitors bill was about £1200. We got a few quotes had found most were around the same. Flat fee pretty similar at about £550 then the rest to cover disbursements eg searches, money transfer fees etc.

Legal - £500 + VAT + disbursements and fee to include acting for lender and completion of SDLT return.

Survey - by negotiation with surveyor. Find a smaller local firm you can talk to, both before and after the inspection.
