I have managed to get an I phone 4s on contract with orange, a year after DRO, i did it by signing up for a Monthly Sim only plan, paying in full and on time for six months then ringing up and asking to upgrade, it seems you may need to build up a history with the company first for them to accept you

I have tried numerous times to get a contract with o2 and was turned down 3 times over the last 3 years (last rejection in feb 2013). I was discharged from BR in June 2009 and put it down to this. So I just had a PAYG sim with a £15 DD - I never used the balance as received more incoming calls than outgoing so it mounted up each month and 500 free texts was enough.
The sales team called me up a few weeks ago asking how I was liking o2 as I had been with them over 3 years. Well he asked so I let fly. Been with you all this time, regular payer blah blah. He said want me to try again? I said great another smudge on my CRF, he said it wont and so I said go ahead then. Well surprise surprise they offered me a sim only contract for £21 with unlimited calls to mobiles and 01 02 03 numbers etc and unlimited texts. (an can upgrade in 11months)
I asked how? he said previously they were not enquiring under my proper name? ie used Debbie not Deborah !!!
Now I just signed up with Noddle and still have two outstanding defaults (Lloyds again) even after all this time. and a rating of 1/5
And I got a contract...eventually
Go figure.....

the bonus - all my credit and rewards is to be converted into cash and pays my bill for the next 3 months :T
