Is there a way to get cash from 0% interest credit card without losing 0%?

I need to pay for a purchase in cash, I have the 0% Tesco credit card.

I know that if I take money out from a cash point using it then I'll get hammered on the interest and not get the 0%.

Is there a way to get the cash from the card?

I was thinking of paying friend/family via paypal and they could then withdraw the cash from their current account? But not sure if that is allowed. Or even if it would work? Or if you can actually pay paypal just from a credit card, I've always done it from current account before.

If not, guess I'm probably better taking a loan out for the amount instead. Can you pay off loans with 0% cards?? Kind of thinking as I'm going, new to all this.

Thanks to anyone with ideas!

Alternatively, could I use my overdraft (free) for the cash purchase and then pay that off with the credit card? Or would that also lose the 0% on the credit card?

I would need to pay the overdraft off because we dip down into it each month so need that buffer.

It used to be possible to buy £ sterling travellers cheques from tesco on your tesco credit card and they count as purchases and so are at 0%. You can then bank the travellers cheques in to your bank account and obtain the cash.

I assume it is still possible to do this - but check with tesco first that they would be treated as purchases.
Some banks charge a small fee to deposit travellers cheques so also check that with your bank and if so factor that in to any calculation.

Looks like you needed a card that does Super Balance transfers. of which the tesco card isnt one.

How long could you delay the purchase for?

How long is the 0% valid on purchases? could you stooze the money in the mean time with other spending to build up the cash pot that you need?

BTs aren't free nowadays, are they?

There was no suggestion that the OP wanted to avoid the fees, they just wanted the 0% deal over the months / not do a regular cash advance..

Such fees would have been on a par ~ if not less than.. what they would pay with any kind of paypal work around that they did suggest.

The Stooze \ cash stash in place is still valid if there prepared to wait to build up what cash they need.

The other suggestion regarding Sterling Traveller cheques is valid - if they count as purchases and If they have a 'fee free' means of turning to cash..

Ahh, brilliant, loads to think about, thank you all for your replies.

Have been having a search around the site and yes, think balance transfer card might be the easiest way, looks like we'd pay £80 fees so long as paid it off during 0% period, so cheaper than a loan. Thanks for that idea.

Am also going to phone Tesco re the travellers cheques, bit of an inspired idea, so thanks for that too.

Also, yes, I could use my free overdraft and use credit card to stooze so don't need to dip into it...although not sure I'm organised enough for that.

Lots to think about now and you've stopped me going round in not quite working circles!
