    How can a student afford an au-pair? I work FT and wouldn't be able to afford one.

    The OP says the father is very involved. We have no idea of the financial situation and it is none of our business.

    The OP came onto here for help not for criticism.

    It is no wonder that this forum has such a bad name because of the continual sniping.

    OP, as long as you 'do your homework' I think your plan is very sound.

    Disabled students can claim benefits as well as their loan/grant (although some of this affects the benefits). I believe that the OP gets DLA HRC/LRM as well.
