wondering if anyone can help... a couple of years ago I got into some financial difficulty and went to my bank (Halifax) but they refused me a loan but gave me access to a large overdraft (??!) Also as I had no house insurance they persuaded me to have an appt with their financial adviser, so I did, and they persuaded me to take house insurance, and then proceeded to push life insurance, as I have a medical condition, trying to insist it would be worth my while, so I signed up to that too as I didnt know what else to do, I just wanted to be out of there, Ive paid for the last two years, but now Im not so vulnerable as I was two years ago, I realise this was pushed on me unwillingly and it is of no use to me atall, can anyone tell me if I can do anything about this please? I was in real financial difficulty (still am lol!) and was pushed to fork out more than £25 a month on something I could ill afford, and still cant? :-/

Life assurance would have been put in place under an advised sales process. This is different to how PPI is sold. There would be a factfind, shortfall analysis and statement of demands and needs.
Your reasons for complaint are weak and unprovable. So, if you were to complain, those points would almost certainly be rejected. Especially having waited a few years rather than a few weeks or months. However, they would look at whether you had a financial need for the life assurance. If you are single, living alone and have no dependants, then you dont need life assurance. If you are married or living with someone or have children then you do.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0
