No Claims Bonus Query

Hello,
I am looking to take out a car insurance policy in my name but then have my wife's name down as the main driver of the vehicle.
Question is, will this make her entitled to any no claims bonus, or does it only get awarded to the person who takes out the policy?
Thanks
Reggie

It depends on the insurer.
Some give NCD to named drivers to use to buy a policy in future from the same insurer.
The RAC only gives NCD to the main driver irrespective of who's policy it is.
Most only give NCD to the policyholder.
If you want to be certain your wife gets "proper" NCD she can transfer to any other insurer at renewal, then either use RAC (not a recommendation) or put the policy in her name.0 -
Thanks Quentin. That's really useful. Thanks again.0
