Moving a bathroom up stairs - cost?

Hello
We are looking at a property that needs some work doing to it.
The major issue is that the bathroom and toilet are on the ground floor on the other side of the house from each other.
We would forgo a 3rd bedroom in place of installing the bathroom in its place.
Another house down the street have built into the loft, so in the future should we need a 3rd room we could probably convert the loft.
So, if the job was straight forward hunky dory job, how much would it cost to install a bathroom directly above the current one?
Many thanks

This is a how long is a piece of string question.
Without seeing the plumbing, joists, and layout anyone who says they can give you an accurate price is misleading you.
Things that could/will cause issues.
1 – Plumbing. Does the old toilet drain straight into the floor (a gully) or does it go to the outside wall and go into a large pipe that runs up the side of the house (a soil stack)? Older houses often don’t have these, but you will need one installed if you don’t.
2 – Structure, a bath is a heavy piece of kit, if the joists are not big enough or if your layout puts the bath running along the joists (as opposed to across them), you may need to add more structural support
3 – Fixture and fittings. Baths range from £200 to £1000+ a similar range for toilets and taps.
With no structural work and easy plumbing runs and the cheapest fixtures (so a stack already present and useable) you could get away with £3k all in, including building control fees.
Pick an expensive bath, need structural work on the joists, and drainage work, fully tile the room in £30 a sq m tiles and you could easily get over £10K.

Hey
Thanks for your reply. We dont want an expensive suite and could possibly connect the pipes if they are in place.
A VERY similar house has done exactly the same thing we want to do. They moved the bathroom to the room that is above the toilet rather than the bathroom.Oxfordmark

Why not ask them how much it cost them?
Alternatively, just get some quotes in!
Honestly, it is a nebulous question. Ms Ecclestone spent £1m on a bath so it could easily be a costly business!Thinking critically since 1996....0 -

Its one of them "move in and get people to quote" things?
Thanks for your comments though.Oxfordmark

Just about to do a similar job for a client and quoted £2900 with them paying building regs, supplying the suite, tile and flooring.
Me supplying all ancillary materials and capping off existing bathroom but them removing and disposing of existing bathroom.
But as Martin said every job is different, however I would be suprised if you went over £5K for a basic bathroom in a 3 bed house.0 -
You can help yourself to keep costs down such as making sure it's over existing foul/waste connections and supply.Sealed pot challange no: 3390
