Beware car rental surcharge.

Recently hired a car in France from Europcar (but guess my experience could have been the same from another company) and on returning home saw my credit card had a surcharge. When I queried the charge I was told it was for additional insurance. Now I wasn't offered and wouldn't have accepted insurance so was conned by the rep. who no doubt wanted to boost Europcar's sales figures and her own earnings. I realise that in signing the rental form the responsibility is mine and fortunately this is my first bad experience.
Named after my cat, picture coming shortly
