Citroen C3 1.4 HDI SX (2003) stalling while driving

Hello,
I was dropping my daughter off this morning at school, lovely old rush hour! We had stopped at lights, and engine was fine but when I went to pull away the car stalled and the battery light came on.

We were on a slight incline at the time so I just went to restart thinking I had stalled it but it wouldn't pick up power again. It took a few goes and much revving to get me going but felt sluggish like it was gonna lose power. I managed to get home thankfully but while on a flat road and in second gear the battery light came on again but then went off straight away.

I'm now anxious about driving but really need to so I can reach my work which is semi rural.

Any ideas what can be the cause? I expect a garage visit is required but have read more than one story of this happening and various repairs being done to no avail other than an empty purse!

I appreciate any help that comes my way :-) Thanks xx

Engine light on or other warning light? When was it serviced last?

    Hiya,
I only bought the car a wee while ago as a stop gap for next year so would need to check the servicing record. It was only the battery light that came on and then went as soon as it turned over again. I have used car a bit today and so far no reoccurrance.

What I did realise was I put one of those rubber mats on my dashboard for my phone to adhere to (which works really well by the way!), so I removed that in a vain hope that it maybe causing some interference! xx

That engine is prone to injector issues so could be related to that.

I doubt a rubber mat would have messed with the cars ju-ju. :)

Haha, I know it's most unlikely. I'm an optimist ;-) Will see if it happens again then pop off to the garage! Thanks for your help xx
