SAR in respect of a Lombard loan 13 years ago

Hi everyone
I have previously posted about having had a loan with Lombard about 13 years ago which I paid off in 2004.
I have written to RBS who have taken over Lombard and they have written back saying they need my account number which I do not have. I also do not have bank statements going that far back and I have since moved banks.
I just wonder if anybody knew if RBS might keep records these far back and indeed if they every had them as they took over Lombard after I had repaid the loan.
Do you think it will be worth my while sending an SAR request to RBS or that I should just forget about it? A few people on here have successfully reclaimed PPI from Lombard.
Thanks in advance.

It might be worth gambling a tenner, but it's a long time ago and a closed account so expect nothing and you won't be disappointed.sunshine1980 wrote: »Do you think it will be worth my while sending an SAR request to RBS ?0 -
RBS do have a number of systems in which they store historial data. Their current system has data going back to 2002, an archive system (called the RBS Archive or Natwest Archive depending on which part of RBS) which contains data back to 1991/2. Access is also available in some cases to further historical data that is held by a company called Iron Mountain.
In my case I have data from when my Natwest account opened in September 1988. It arrived in 3 batches covering the dates as above. They've also provided me with Loan/Credit Card information for the same period.
You may however have to push RBS and remind them that you know they hold older data, as initially they'll advise they only hold data for 6 years, however some customers get the older data without asking. Seems to be random, and no doubt depends on who is dealing with the SAR.
Regarding Lombard, some parts of that division were sold on - the store card part is now Santander, but RBS/Natwest I believe still retains the older loan book (they no longer offer new loans). Prior to your SAR it may be worth giving the RBS PPI helpline a call on 0800 015 0319. These may be able to tell you if they still deal with Lombard or whether this needs to be directed elsewhere.
Edited to add - their website lists a number of contact details, but specifically for Loans the address is The Royal Bank of Scotland, PO Box 15274, Solihull, B91 9PJ. Telephone number is 0800 2 15000.Competition wins:
2010 - approx £450. 2011 - approx £800. 2012 - approx £300. 2013 - nothing so far!0
