what is the point in booking another appointment when their systems seem to somehow not log their visits?

I think it is fair to ask them to located the details. It is up to them to admit they have lost them and apologize.
I would then have no problem in booking another visit.

I don't think I am being unreasonable.

It seems you have a choice. Either ring them and arrange an appointment to inspect, or let them gain a court order to break your door down to inspect.

Which way you choose is entirely upto you, ultimately they will be coming around to make that inspection, with or without your cooperation. I think that is the point. ;)

So you do not think I am even entitlied to ask what happened to the visit undertaken on the 16th of March 2013?
I gather you think a complaint is not necessary.

You should be entitled to ask and indeed make your complaint, in the meantime they will still go about enforcing an inspection regardless of your actions. I know where my priorities would be about that so I would at the very least contact them to make arrangements before I get a bill for a new door and court costs.

I was hoping they could retrieve the details from the previous visit.
The guy scanned the meter into his little computer. So this visit must be logged somewhere.
It may just be a matter of someone not downloading the data.

I could rebook it as you say but what is stopping them from either not turning up or turning up and not recording the visit once again and then I am back to square one.

At least I want to put it in writing that they have lost details of a previous visit. This is to cover myself in case this ends up in court.
I'll try to rearrange another appointment but I want to make it clear to them that they are in the wrong and protect myself in case this does end up at magistrates court.

Reading previous posts it would appear that in many cases npower have been knocked back in court over abuse of due process I think that is the technical term.

Npower has nothing to do with this in my area, its the responsibility of my landlord.

I have already!!

They weren't very helpful. All I got was "wel'll sort it".
they did not ask me to book another appointment nor did they say they would be happy with my word regarding 16th of March.

Hi,

I received a threatening letter from npower. The letter says that I should ring to book an appointment for a gas meter safety inspection as they have not been able to gain access to the property. They say it has been more than two years since the last inspection.

Note that they have already been on 16 March to do this. They guy also took a meter reading. I can only guess that due to their systematic failure in their billing systems this visit was not logged hence the letter.

They are threatening to go to a magistrate for a warrant within seven days and enter the property even in my absence.

I do not really want to deal with the call centre but I am worried that if I write to the complaints department the issue may be dealt with after the seven days window I have left before any other action is taken. I have also read somewhere that once they go to the magistrate the process cannot be stopped.

I would like to know if other people have experience this bullying by npower.
At the end of the day they have already been and it is not my fault if their subcontractors do not log their inspections.

Thanks

Hi MarcoM,

From reading your posts it sounds as though the visit on the 16th March was a routine meter reading visit. You say that a card was left for you to fill in, which sounds to be the meter reading card.

If you can pop me an email with your account details on to forumresponse@npower.com, I can have a look and see what's what.

Many thanks,

Adam :)

it was not a meter reading visit because when i opened the door the operative said "gas safety meter check" and he also had a look at the pipes / wires around the meter.

Also the meter reading was not recorded on my account which suggests that the visit was lost.

Thanks for the offer but I have written and sent an official complaint by registered post.
