Wed 22nd May - What small DFW things will you do today?

Options
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

    Morning all ,

Up bright and early as I am booked in for a spin class at 7am and then yoga at 10am, not very DFW as it is nearly £5 per class but now that am going regularly will look into joining and asking about corporate discount.

    Today so far

Checked banking - not good, no CSA payment as expected.
Breakfast - scrambled eggs on toast

    Rest of day:
    Spin class and yoga class
Book cycle in for a service in anticipation of bike ride with friends and kids next week.
More sanding of garden bench and painting of chest of drawers
Tidy bedroom - currently has a "floordrobe"
    Lunch and dinner from stores
Friend coming over for catch up tonight.

Don't plan to do much else, have a great day everyone and hugs to those that need them today.

    Much Love

    Morning,

Thanks for starting the thread josie.

Well I bounced out of bed early this morning, raring to go. Must be the excitement of today's visit to the Jobcentre (not).:p I'm beginning to think the world is going mad: I emailed an employment agency asking about one of the jobs they are advertising. They refused to tell me which company it is for to "protect the employer"! Apparently applicants "don't have the right to know that information prior to the interview stage".

    Today I will:

    1. [STRIKE]Do Nectar AdPoints, OnePoll and Ipsos.[/STRIKE]
    2. [STRIKE]Check online banking. [/STRIKE]
    3. [STRIKE]Check Quidco/TopCashBack for payments.[/STRIKE]
    4. [STRIKE]Call Jobcentre to find out why they've sent us a letter to say that our JSA is going to be paid into a different sortcode and account number from now on when we know nothing about this.[/STRIKE] 11 min call to an 0845 number. £3.85. Not pleased about that. Couldn't find a cheap number anywhere.

    Hi Clever Money-savers,
Well, pride went before a fall this morning, as was just thinking that I don't look too bad for a 'woman of a certain age' who refuses to spend a fortune on beauty products, when I stuck the mascara brush hard in my eye, & that was the end of my glamour-moment.....black streaks all down my face, sore red eye........that'll teach me!
    Penny-saving activity so far:
*Did ironing. Switched off for last item.
*Bread ran out. Have put breadmaker on. Will also do some rolls later.
*Boiled too much water in kettle at coffee time (hard to guage it in this big hob kettle) so poured surplus into flask for hot drink. (It's official, I am turning into my Nan! When I start rinsing out the milk cartons to 'make another half pint', the transformation will be complete!)
    *Did a couple of surveys
*Emailed ebay customer to suggest they might like to pay me.
    Things still to do:
*Cooking afternoon. Am making salmon pasta for dinner tonight, with a big salad and using the last of the rubber chicken to make a stew for Mr f (he's late home tomorrow & can just re-heat it) & some cream of chicken & celery soup for me. The rubber chicken actually did THREE packed lunches in the end, as well as 4 days of dinners.....he's gone off with a chicken dijonnaise sandwich today).
*Water veggies & check for pests/problems.
@ziggy - Thanks so much for your encouragement re weight-loss. It's very slow now that I've been doing it for so long (started it back in Jan 2011, before I took VR). I do feel much healthier & fitter, as had gone up into the 'morbidly obese' BMI category, & much as I love cooking, baking, etc, I did feel I needed to take a bit more responsibility for my health. My goal this year was to be a proper size 16 by end of June. Don't know if I shall do it......have got 3 size 16 tops, which are fine, but will need a concerted effort to get in size 16 jeans by then......harder to get rid of the muffin top as one gets older, lol! Hope you are doing OK, are you aiming to lose much more weight yourself? 35lbs is a good amount to have lost.
    That's me for today,

hi everyone. Glad to be back on here again after being away a while! Today
    - working at home today so saved around £5 in petrol for a start.
    - yoghurt and fruit breakfast at home
    - will make lunch for me and hubby shortly - took some veggie "meatballs" out of the freezer and we'll have those in pitta breads with a bit of salad and cup of tea with fruit after and maybe a banana and honey muffin this pm (in freezer, but can quickly defrost in microwave).
    - dinner from stores also - have some fish, potatoes and broccolli.
    - will be a NSD today
    - heating is off
    - going to sort my ironing out this evening - sigh!
    - planning how much cash to take out of the bank for our hols next week (in UK, staying with rellies but will need cash for days out plus a nice meal out whilst we are there enjoying the sea air).
    - enjoying free stuff like walking the dog, gardening etc
    have a lovely day everyone
