"Claims should be made within 30 days of paying for your treatment"

Hello,
I have never previously claimed on dental insurance, so need to ask. (Maybe it's common practice and there is no need to call the insurer about this?)
I have Tesco (AXA) dental insurance, and the policy states that "claims should be made within 30 days of paying for your treatment (unless this was not reasonably possible)".
Does this mean the first or the last payment?
It seems that my treatment will take over a month, and every visit I pay only for the work completed that day. In the case that something needs to be made in the lab, I also pay for that in advance.
I started paying on the 8th of May (first x-ray), but at the moment still have at least 3 weeks of ongoing treatment, according to my current treatment plan.
So my question is: can I claim all the payments I made during the whole course of the treatment (one treatment plan), despite it being more than 30 days from the first payment? Or do I need to ask my dental surgery to divide my payments and all papework in order to satisfy the quoted requirement from my policy?
Many thanks.

Complete a claim form, send it in and put a note on it that treatment to date is X and estimated total will be Y, with all bills being provided at the end of treatment. Insurers need to know what they are liable for, so they can hold adequate reserves to pay claims, or if their claims are going to breach retentions, to enable them to notify reinsurers.0
