Passport Application

Hi all,
I wonder if someone might be able to help me out.
I am filling out the application form to renew my daughters passport. As her father and I were both born after 1982 I am required to fill out the details of her grandparents as well.
Problem is, I have NO idea about the details of his parents, and I have no way of finding out. We haven't spoken in around 7 years, and although he pays through a CSA earnings deduction he hasn't seen her in even longer.
There is an option to put myself down as a single parent, but my concern is that because his details were put on her first passport then maybe they will expect the renewal to show the same information?
I guess I just want confirmation that I am ok to put myself down as an only parent... people do split up all the time after all!!

They will compare this application against the previous one. They have always done that and with computers it's much easier to do now.
When you made the previous application presumably you weren't a single parent at the time but you are now, so that is what you should put on the new one.0 -
So as long as I put something in the notes section explaining the change then the application should go through ok? **crosses fingers!**0

Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.0 -
Friend just did exactly this and felt obliged to put father (aka sperm donor) name down anyway he has now been in touch guilt trip and wants to see his son (after 7 years never clapped eyes on him)
I would be saying father unknown if queried say you suffer short term memory loss and thank them for jogging your memory that the low life from last passport is the father ;-)0 -
Just put unknown under the details of the grand parents. I'm sure they are more concerned about the details of the father than the grand parents and being truthful.0

Email and ask them, they were quick to respond and helpful when I had a few questions recently x0

If you're a single parent then say you're a single parent - I'm sure they understand that circumstances change

I rang the passport agency today regarding this as both my husband and I were born after 1982. The only grandparent of my son that is still in our lives is my mum. I don't speak to my dad, and my husbands parents are dotted around the country and we don't really have anything to do with them.
The woman I spoke to on the phone was a right mardy cow, and said I had to put as many details as I knew on the form. I'm just going to include my mums details and add a covering letter to say, 'all other grandparents are British, other details unknown'.

Yes marker I would be vague after all as far as passport office are aware you could have never met them or your ex told you anything about them, and considering they are not in the slightest bit interested in seeing you child (their grandchild) then I would put them down as 'known but unknown and insignificant'. As for the ex put Name but unsure of his whereabouts, as you most likely have no idea where he is, as less details as poss as if you put an Address down he will get a letter and (laughable I know) but he can then be involved with any travel out of the UK you participate in!0
