Your notice was the rights of entry notification on the pre-disconection visit.
Once a warrant is obtained they have 28 days to execute, and they normaly would tell you a date.

Pre-disconnection visit??? I have not been visited by anyone from Npower until today.

'They would normally tell you a date' - I have had no notification that i) the warrant was granted; or ii) of a date for execution.

I would write to Npower asking for a breakdown of the EXACT costs of what the £600 is.
Give them 28 days to respond, then if they don't, contact the regulator.

Court fees - if through the County Court Small claims division - likely to be no more than £80.

If you had requested a pre-pay meter to start with, they would have charged you nothing as you would simply be switching tariffs.

Here's a question, as you have the legal right to change energy providers (with pre-pay meters, the contract length is a nominal 1 month rolling, as my son discovered), what would happen if you were to phone-up a cheaper provider (Co-Op energy is the cheapest at the moment by a good margin (even without the yearly cashback via the annual divi))?. Npower are powerless to stop you as the meters are installed and owned by 'UK Power Networks' who take a small % from the energy supplier.

As the debt would be over 28 days, the supplier has a right to object
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

    Dog handler £150 plus

Is that 'fair and proportionate' considering I don't have a dog? Also, I am aware they are not allowed to make profit from this venture. Does standing, occasionally talking amount to £150 in charges?

thats the type of charge, the fee is an attendance fee, obtain the warrant fee and if necessary request police attendance it aint cheap. Dont forget the utility companys admin / staff etc

I wasn't saying you had a dog - just giving an idea of how costs can mount up.

In relation to changing supplier - npower would want immediate payment of the debt or a short arrangement (eg over 3 months). As you have defaulted previously they would probably be quite strict on this. If you didn't pay, as they wouldnt have a hold on you through supply they would sell the debt on to a DCA.

In regards to a PDV - the visit would have noted down the type of door you have, the type of lock you have, if the are any vulnerables there (eg disabled). Npower will have confirmed supply and meter details. They should have this on file if you ask

I think they can and will object to anything outstanding over £200, not certain the exact amount.

NPower twice objected to me moving from them, took 6 months to finally get to British Gas and I owed them not much over £100!!! Useless company, NPower...really really messed up.

On the plus side, the final bill was written off by them so saved £100+...

Sure, the dog reference wasn't aimed at you.

How would they undertake a PDV if i) I have no recollection of this; ii) they would be unable to gain access without my help; and iii) when I spoke to them today they needed to 'see the type of meter and assess it prior to disconnection'.

Ahhh...so each dog handler has their own team of administrative staff back in the office. Give over, dog handler's can't quote a charge of £150 that is 'fair and proportionate' when all they do is stand around in a garden devoid of dogs. That's like horticulturist charging you £150 to stand around in your paved over driveway.

Your not a Debt collection industry nark are you, btw?

Oh and as for the PDV, I didn't receive one so what's my position in regards to that?

OP, you may not like the answers given in the thread, indeed all of us may think the situation is unfair, but legally they can and they have.

Taking out on other posters who have gone to the trouble to try and explain the circumstances with sarcastic remarks like your post above, is not only not helping your situation, its causing others to lose any sympathy for you.

If there is any portion of blame in what has happened, its certainly not the result of any members on MSE. Try looking in a mirror first!

To carry out a PDV they don't have to speak to you (although they try). They can take the front door details down without speaking to anyone really. In relation to meter details- is your meter inside then?

I would speak to npower tomorrow - they will have it all noted down as they would have had to prepare a case for the court.

I doubt any steps would have been missed if the warrant was granted. But as I say - speak to them and they will have dates of letters/visits etc.
