I need help.!!!!!
i've recently discovered that even though i'm with a new car insurer, i've still been paying my old insurance company for almost a year. every month my old insurer has been taking the money from my account as i had been totally unaware that i had to cancel it on my end. i had assumed that the contract would end after the years policy and that would be that.
is there anyone who knows how i could go about reclaiming what ive lost.???
many thanks

I'm not sure you'll be able to claim the money back as you will have had a renewal quote that will have said something like "If you do not wish to continue with your policy renewal please contact us otherwise your policy will auto renew"0

So for a year they have been taking money out of your account and you have only just realised, how often do you check your account?0

Write now and explain the mistake, return their certificate and ask them to refund you as you have been insured elsewhere, and enclose proof of your "double" insurance.0

You will be relying solely on goodwill only - they are not required to, and depending on your policy you may have a policy termination charge too.
If you give anyone a DD, it remains your responsibility to police it. Leaving it this late means e you accepted the terms and agreed to them.0
