    Some maths for you all:

    x = item price
    y = P&P price

    Without TRS discount on FVF:

    FVF = 10%*x

    With TRS discount:

    FVF = 8.5%*x + 8.5%y (since now charged on both)

    So it is only worth having TRS discount where the FVF are lower in the second case ie

    0.085x + 0.085y < 0.1x

    or

    0.085y < 0.015x

    or

    y < 0.015/0.085x

    or

    postage price is less than 18% of the item cost.

    So if you are selling something at say £20 + £5P&P then you are better off charging for P&P and not having the TRS discount - unless you can achieve a better overall price by offering a "free" service of course. Or making the "free" service particularly unattractive. But then we all know that buyers never change the default postage option.

    Anyone want to check my maths? :o
    It sounds right. I'm not daft enough to charge the same price for items including postage as I do when postage is extra, there's 10% on the postage price for my 'free' postage items.

    That said expect Ebay in the UK to move to the US model where final value fees are charged on postage too. It's been on the way for a while, I'd expect it at the next big announcement early next year.

    . I am not sure though about the 1 day despatch as for instance if I log off now and then sell something, could I send it Thursday now and still be within my 1 day despatch or would It have to go tomorrow?

    this is the one that needs clearing up for me.

    Express delivery includes handling time, you can set that at 0 or 1 day so maximum of 2 days to send the item, so if you receive an order today, tomorrow can be classed as a 1 day handling time and you could post day after tomorrow.

    Ok, so it might not be as difficult to stay a TRS as I first thought.

    So :

    I need to change my returns policy to 14 days. Where is the change returns policy tab ?

    1 day despatch - I currently have my despatch set to 2 working days, so I need to change that to 1 ? Where do I change my cut off time, if it's 2 pm, I need to make it earlier to catch my business post slot.

    Express delivery - I have to add a Royal Mail Special delivery to my listings

    Free postage - got that one covered

    Have I got it all right and can anyone please help with the points I'm not clear about.

    If you have selling manager you can edit everything in bulk, up-to 500 listings at a time, if you use the SYI form you have to do them separately but the options are on the form, if you use 3rd party software I'm not sure but changing the points you mention means you will qualify.

    The promotion is an extra 5% discount (so if already on 15 you'll get 20) but that is on the FVF so is a very, very small amount (for me that extra 5% discount is just 0.39% extra off the FVF saving 39pence for every £100 sold) and if VAT registered with eBay the discount is calculated after the 15% VAT is deducted from the FVF.

    Currently you'll remain a normal TRS regardless, from autumn your account will be TRS (if you meet the current requirements) but only the listings complying with the new requirements will show the bagde and get any FVF discount. You should still get a boost in seach regardless but I'm certain the TRS badged items in the future will be given greater exposure.

    If you plan to adhere to eBay's new changes this promotion is a (surprisingly for eBay) good idea to get sellers ready when it's a bit quiet in the summer months rather than having to do the work later in the year when things are busier.

    I have been slowly updating my shop to conform.
    I have bulk edited the dispatch time - but also not sure where to change the cut off time, anyone?
    The returns policy can be changed at the bottom of every listing, you can do it for all the listings at once.
    I am not doing this for the extra 5% offer or to retain TRS, but I do want the exposure!

    When the original announcement came out about TRS changes I like many others thought I wasn't going to comply so was ready to say good bye to TRS.
    I'm so glad I made this decision.
    50% of my lines already had free postage, I changed them and added postage but still keeping the original selling price the same, my sales of those items have more than doubled, buyers are buying multiple items and coming back for repeat orders. Free postage puts people off if they want multiple items, so glad I made the change and I don't have to worry about jumping through hoops for ebay.

    From the looks of it we won't be able to set the cut off time until June - http://sellerupdate.ebay.co.uk/spring2013/same-day-dispatch

    I don't think that I can possibly offer same day dispatch, I can't be tied to my stock/computer all morning just in case someone decides to place an order.

    Seems that 1 day will still be acceptable to retain TRS...
