new to house buying, would appreciate advice re: FA and how that works

I am in the process of buying a house, and to be frank don't have much idea what I'm doing and feel like I am being just floated along by loads of people (who are probably helping) , but because I don't know what I'm doing I am starting to stress about it.

Have got a FA who has so far seemed good, but due to my possible lack of knowledge have got a bit freaked about something today. I met him to sign mortgage stuff and am getting a house Byers survey done buy the bank giving me the mortgage, he took my bank and card details etc but when I said I understood that it may not be until tomorrow that he does this , I asked if the receipt or ref:no would be sent to me/him/solicitor for this transaction and he said he thinks that there isn't one (natwest) . just would like to know if this is normal?

Thanks
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

I dont think they do send a receipt to be honest. I know i have never had one posted to me as an advisor, they will usually send an email or something confirming it has been done. I suppose you could ask for one if you want one.

The report will get done, usually pretty quickly (may even be this week), that will go back to the lender, they will usually look at it within a couple of days at most and then depending on the lender they may make an offer and pass it over to the solicitors to do their job or they may then start the underwriting process and could potentially ask for more documents before then passing it over to the solicitors.

Pester your broker, i charge a fee when giving advice to my clients so i dont mind if i get emails at 9pm at night or over the weekend i will usually answer them unless its something in depth. Personally i wont answer the phone after 7pm but emails i can do on my phone so i dont mind.
Trust me, you asking what the process is will be fine. Ive got a clients who call me 3, 4, 5 times a day even though they know there is no news - they just want their hand holding and reassuring.

Thanks for your reply, feel a bit better now. To be honest I think I'm panicking at times. That and this is out of my box. I don't need to pester my broker....i'm the annoying type that thinks everything is done yesterday as that is how I work.....poor bloke!

But that's cool if that's how it works........onwards and upwards. from now on, no doubt I will post about how to do the next step to be honest as haven't done this before on my own.

    Thanks 4 reply.x
