Although much less, they also make money directly from visits to their website (more hits=higher website ranking=higher ad revenue) and there is the potential to tempt people/raise awareness of other programmes.

Postal route is closed/one way communication, offers nothing to them and is much harder (costly) to integrate with phone/text entries. I would think long term they would be more likely to drop free entry altogether and run their competitions under a gaming licence rather than go with postal entry.

or how about one entry per household via free entry

I would prefer this method, I only ever enter with my mobile. After all it only takes one entry.. Just pales in comparrision to those who have 4+ numbers to use.
    Wishing you all good luck!

    I hope it doesn't stop....

I remember when channel 5 did free online enteries then suddenly stopped. I haven't entered anymore of theirs as I begrudge paying for it. If I paid for the comps every week/two weeks I'd be skint lol.

I also think they should reduce the number of times you can enter. I think it should be one per household.

I've never understood why they allow three/six entries per competition... it's the same odds of winning if everyone just enters once.

Because some people enter 3/6 times by phone or text, giving the more profit. It used to be that you were allowed up to 30 entries per number.

I'm sure having a whole 'I am an ITV winner thread here allocating numbers has been spotted lol Advertising the fact that maybe the balance is heavily tipped in favour of those entering for free. They're probably quite right to redress that balance.

But they won't want you to enter online, because it's not generating anywhere near as much money as the phone lines.
To be honest, I don't blame them. They are a business after all.

Some of their competitions in the past have had a postal free entry route instead of an online one or even no free entry (if they run them under the appropriate licence there is no need to offer free entry).

There is no indication they intend to stop online entry, just a few posts by someone who assumed it because than recently ran/are running one with postal entry (not everyone has internet access so there may well be some people who are grateful for the chance to enter by post).

If they were going to stop free entry or make it postal only then it is highly unlikely that "complaining" about it would make the slightest difference.

Surely the OP would have been better off giving ITV a call to find out their intentions regarding free online entries. The email address they've put in the first post is also incorrect for questions/comments related to competitions.
