I have been looking at a few laptops. £300-£400 range and like the 11" screen one for portability. I would look at getting an optical drive later. What do people think about touch screens? Cost is bout £100 more but does it make that much difference when using win8
Thanks

Having just purchased a Windows 8 laptop without a touchscreen I have to say that it does make a difference.
Without the touchscreen it's all about positioning of the mouse to get menus. For example, mouse to bottom right of screen brings up a menu, mouse to bottom left of screen brings up a link to the start screen.
Although I can see windows 8 being a very good OS on a touchscreen it's a little bit too precision orientated to work well with a mouse/touchpad.
Often find I get a bit tetchy when things keep vanishing just when I'm about to click on them.0 -
Windows 8 is the dinner of a dog. Good news though windows 8.1 is coming maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but soon.
Hopefully it will iron out some of the inconsistencies in the interface, they may even bring bck the Start button!!That gum you like is coming back in style.0
