Re-pointing chimney

Options
I'm in the process of getting quotes for a chimney to be re-pointed. It's a 3 bed semi (1950s ex local authority) in Cardiff and I've only had one ball-park quote over the phone so far. They estimated £1200 including scaffolding. I will of course get some other quotes but initially this seems quite high to me, I'd be grateful to hear if anyone has any thoughts...

That sounds hellish expensive ! unless its a blinking big stack.

Its not something I do as a chimney sweep but many chimney sweeps do, have a look at the nacs website to find a registered sweep near you and ask them if they do stack work, if not can they recommend someone ?

We had some quotes about this time last year and it came in at £385 as he used a ladder system rather than scaffolding (fully insured) so definitely get some quotes from smaller independent firms.
