Thames Water? Grrrrr....

Options
Hi Forum Members/Readers

I'm thankful to Martin for giving me a place to blow off steam with Thames Water

Urrrgh!!

Today (21 May 2013) a letter arrived dated 11 Sep 2012!

Yes! 11 Sep 2012 (Don’t ask…)

It confirmed that:

the Rateable Value (RV) from 1 Apr 2012 to 31 Mar 2013 is £408.51

and

the Assessed Household Charge (AHC) 1 Apr 2012 to 31 Mar 2013 is £202

I calculated the difference to be £206.51 and thought I’m due a refund as how can I have two bills for the same address and same billing year?

Now the background to the letter is that I applied for a water meter and a Thames Water rep came on 14 Aug 2012, realised unable to fit one as on a shared water supply and so bill switched from RV to AHC

My rant today is, the letter clearly states the water supply costs from 1 Apr 2012 to 31 Mar 2013 for both tariffs and yet telephoning Thames Water today, I was told “ignore letter” and “your AHC charges started 14 Aug 2012 because that’s the date we visited and changed you over” And that’s why I had to pay RV charges from 1 Apr to 13 Aug 2012 and then AHC charges from 14 Aug onwards. In effect, they squeezed the last 1p outta me before placing me onto a new tariff knowing it's the same water entering my address at whatever price!

Grrrr!!

It’s in black and white the charge is £202 for 2012 to 2013 bill year

So no refund then nor today

Only comfort I have is that it’s a good job the Thames Water rep didn’t visit on 28 Mar 2013 innit? ;)

When will this sole London water supplier monopoly end?

Urrrgggh….

Everyone has one available water supplier, it's not like broadband or phone with a choice unfortunately.

    United Utilities are also useless.
