Probably some fluff or dust in it. Use a vacuum cleaner nozzle to suck any dirt out whilst rotating the scroll wheel.
Not sure if the 4000 has a removable inspection cover underneath ... if it has, that will make dust removal even easier.... DaveHappily retired and enjoying my 14th year of leisureI am cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.Bring me sunshine in your smile0 -
I have hoovered the scroll wheel, it's all dust free now but it's still on fast scroll. I did not even know there was a fast scroll on the louse lol
The bottom does not come apart

OK, can you clarify ... is it scrolling all on its own in which case it is almost certainly an invasion of dust / fluff ... or do you mean it is fast scrolling when you actually turn the scroll wheel? ... in which case you need to bring up Control Panel and click on Mouse Settings and alter the scroll speed.... It is when I use the scroll wheel it's very fast, too fast. I just brought up the mouse settings.
On the scroll speed it was still on default setting like its always been, I changed it to the slowest setting scroll & it's still the same silly scroll speed.
I literally touch the scroll wheel & it's zoomed to the top or bottom of the screen

it is the case that if you click the scroll wheel and move your mouse to top or bottom it will scroll there very quickly... are you clicking the wheel?
could always unscrew the mouse to get inside it I suppose...Friendly greeting!0 -
Nope I'm not clicking the wheel while scrolling.
I did try that to see if it would stop the fast scroll, it does go slower but judders the whole time which makes me feel sick lol
It's one whole piece of molded plastic. The only bit that looks like you could get perhaps is where you right & left click, there looks like a gap but I dare not do that as it might not work any more lol
