Hi There,
I am hoping someone out there with a bit of knowledge may be able to help me please.
Last week I joined match.com and I signed up for a subscription that gives me six months membership with payments of £25 taken in May/June and July.
The trouble is, I cannot access match.com via their app as it constantly crashes. I have a tablet (that is what I registered on) and a smartphone and neither works. I've been trying fruitlessly for this time to read messages when I get notifications but it is a very time consuming exercise with the app crashing repeatedly.
I have asked to cancel my subscription (accepting I'll lose the first £25) as I am not happy to pay any more for something I cannot use but they will not allow it.
What are my rights? Can I just cancel the payment via my card (I remember on the show a few weeks ago talking about DD/SO and another type of payment). I simply do not have £75 to burn.
I'd be grateful of any advice as I'm really upset by this. I knew I should've booked a weekend break to Pontins for the kids and I rather than trying to find love.
Thank you in anticipation.
Jeni

Doesn't help with your problem but make sure your auto renewal is turned off. This site is littered with posts where people signed up for this deal, don't cancel the auto renewal and are then hit with a large amount of money (over £100) being taken out of their account 6 months later.
You don't want that! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I should've added.... I was planning to delete the account and stop the payments by phoning my card company.... will that work? Or will I end up being blacklisted/taken to court.
I'm scared to do anything as I've only just come out of bankruptcy and have fought to get into a position where I can manage since my husband walked out on me.
Why oh why did I ever think trying to find love would be a good thing. #willIeverlearn:A Recovering Spendaholic :AI wish the buck stopped here. I could use a few.

I would not say it is match.com's fault, it is more likely to be the fault with the devices you are using the app on.
Have you tried uninstalling, switch devices completly off then doing a new reinstall?0 -

Thank you Goater. Is that something I do through Match (the company who won't let you talk to a manager over the phone) or via Barclays with my debit card?:A Recovering Spendaholic :AI wish the buck stopped here. I could use a few.

Thanks Battleborn... I've reinstalled five times now. I see from their app reviews that they have one star and quite literally everyone is saying how appauling it is. I'm using android and know of at least 5 others who have the same problem.:A Recovering Spendaholic :AI wish the buck stopped here. I could use a few.

Can you not access your Match account via a web browser? (Even on a tablet you can still use a web browser; you don't necessarily HAVE to use an app).
Check the Match T&Cs, but you'll probably need to access your Match account and cancel via that way. Cancelling a payment method does NOT cancel a contract.0 -

Can you just use the website ? If you've got Android, then there are other choices of browser including Chrome, that show websites in 'desktop' mode, ie as you'd view it on a PC.0 -

I imagine it will be on your account settings on Match. Check the renewal information in there. Make sure autorenewal is turned off.
As to your problem you could just cancel your DD's and hope they don't take it further (i have no idea if Match do or not)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Thank you once again Goater. On their site it says I cannot cancel the autorenewal until they have taken my third payment. OOOooooh, they appear to have my short and curlies in a vice-like grip.:A Recovering Spendaholic :AI wish the buck stopped here. I could use a few.

Set a reminder on your tablet for the same day (or day after) the 3rd payment, to cancel the auto-renewal.0
