Hubby and I have separate accounts that our salaries go into, but we have debits coming off both of them and we both move money between the accounts, he knows my log on details and I know his. There is absolutely no 'yours and mine' in the finances. I feel if you marry, everything is shared, you just have to. Some people are so petty with keeping finances separate its rediculous.

Our finances are seperate but I normally buy the food shopping and hubby gives me half towards it. I do all the cooking too. Its a lot easier for us as we eat the same food together most nights. I couldnt imagine him buying his food and me buying mine it would be like living with a lodger ! :)
Just owe Dad £2500 for a new car

I'm married and we both pay for different things, ie he pays mortgage, certain bills and I pay for certain bills. Hubby earns more than me so obviously he has more bills. Wasn't planned that way but just the way it's turned out. We have our own bank accounts and anything left is ours to spend as we wish. We're very easy going and share everything, there's no "this is mine and this is yours" although if he leaves any spare change, it normally finds it's way into my purse - ha ha!

regardings cooking, I don't eat red meat so what I do is bulk cook and freeze (meals like spag bol, chilli - anything that is only for my husband), then when we eat together, and it's not a chicken or fish dish, then I can grab the meal out of the freezer whilst preparing my own veggie one :D

We both have our own bank accounts that our money goes into and then we transfer enough into the joint account to cover joint expenses. This covers mortgage and all utilities and grocery shopping. It has been a negotiation what comes out of this account - for a while it included petrol and wine but he has taken over wine and I have taken over petrol (this is according to who drinks most and who drives most :)) It can also cover a small element of household spending (buying a hammer or a mop or whatever) but anything bigger needs paid for seperately.

Re the food issue, do you feel that his lifestyle costs more than yours? If so then maybe he should pay in slightly more to reflect this?
