Tick control - NOT Spot On

As the title suggests I need a product that will stop my dog and cats getting ticks but I am really unhappy about the idea of using the Spot On type treatments as I think they are pretty dangerous.
Any ideas?

Spot on works fine with my dogs. I use Frontline.
Otherwise you can get a flea collar or I think there's something you can sprinkle on their food. Best speak to your vet.0 -
Found a natural treatment I can add to their food :j
I'm not putting them at risk with a powerful pesticide. Just not worth the chance of the serious side effects...............0 -
Try using Teatree oil, the 100% best stuff not the cheap watered down stuff. xRIP TJ. You my be gone, but never forgotten.
