DEll upgrading & replacing my 2 day old laptop

hi every 1,

Well ive just gotten off the phone to dell telling them about the problem with the speakers on my 2 day old laptop and they are sending me out a new 1 and also upgrading it for free yippeeeeeeeee, all the specs are pretty much the same he said its a whole better machine than mine only difference is this 1 has a 15.1 screen and the new 1 will have 14.1 but im fine with that
the model i have at present is INSPIRON 1501, and the 1 they are now sending me the INSPIRON 640m. is this the standard thing they do with machines that have faults ? and should i be ok accepting this different model, im presuming it is as he says a better model?

loops :)

640m has a better processor, built-in wireless and a DVD-RW drive. £130 difference between base models, so should be better, though it depends on the full specs (processor, memory, hard drive etc.) See comparison here.

It's a more expensive machine with a better processor and 1 year collect and return warranty, you could try and blag a 6400 (which are cheaper than a 640m) instead if you wanted the same size screen.

I don't think it's a standard thing to upgrade, but they do seem to want to keep the customer happy if you end up with a dud, (it might just be a connection has come loose in transit btw).
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
