Preschool charity, voluntary redundancy and sick leave

Hi there all
I represent a committee run preschool charity who are sadly going through a process of asking for voluntary redundancies due to falling numbers. We have received a volunteer and are in the process of writing to them with our acceptance - my question is, they have now been signed off sick by the doctor for 2 weeks, and there is the likelihood of this continuing, does this/how does this affect their entitlement to redundancy pay etc if they do not return to work before the initial agreed and date at the end f the summer term?
Thanking you in anticipation!

I'd be surprised if them going on sick leave affected their redundancy, except that if you only pay SSP you might be calculating the redundancy payment on their actual earnings rather than their contractual salary.
I'd look at the ACAS website, and also contact any umbrella groups you belong to, and your local voluntary services council, as you cannot afford to get this wrong. Who does your payroll? They may also be able to do the calculations for you and advise on the legalities of the situation.Signature removed for peace of mind0
