Help - PCN 01E Parked in a restricted street during prescribed hours (double parked/

So I came back to my car tonight with this, I've been parking in this same spot for couple months now.

"01E Parked in a restricted street during prescribed hours (double parked/obstruction)
Observed from 21:30 to 21:30"

I've done a bit of reading up and believe it means they are saying I parked on yellow lines? Is this correct?
The photo they took I'm not even on the road with the lines! :S

But the photo seems to also focus on the kerb, so I read up more and found out I'm not allowed to park there supposedly? But that would normally go under Contravention Code 27.

h ttp://s22.postimg.org/t7a4wjx8x/car.jpg - !! not allowed to post links as it's new account, please remove the space between the H and T.

Where do I stand with appealing this?

Going to bed now so will check replies in the morning.

Thanks.

No expert, but in my view, you shouldn't be parked on the corner and you are also (partially) blocking a dropped kerb.

Sure someone will be along with some proper advice soon.
  • Hey Richard, thanks for the reply.

On any normal road I would never park right on the corner like that but the road is very short and kinda leads nowhere, to the back of some garages I think.

Here is a link of google street view - h ttp://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=northampton&hl=en&ll=52.238053,-0.911087&spn=0.00271,0.006968&sll=52.8382,-2.327815&sspn=10.959602,28.54248&hnear=Northampton,+United+Kingdom&t=m&z=18&layer=c&cbll=52.238134,-0.911182&panoid=4iFDXl6-jVL5rwSFr-PB_w&cbp=12,216.86,,0,16.42
Remember to remove space between H and T again.

Normally there are cars parked all along that road hence why I was right on the end.

    Thanks.

Take this to pepipoo.com. You are technically on the lines as they are deemed to extend to a boundary of a house etc. As this is a small road I wonder why they did not put lines down there. Is it a private road? If so where does the private road start and the council bit end.

Yep you can't avoid double yellows by being on the kerb or footway next to them and they do indeed apply from boundary to boundary of properties across the entire carriageway & pavements/kerbs/verges.

    Here's your pic:

Was that a driveway you were in? Let pepipoo know and include a pic of BOTH SIDES of the PCN there:

I'm not on the kerb or footway though, I'm parked on a side road that doesn't have yellow lines.

    Thanks for your replies!

    What makes that road abnormal?

Looking at the street view, the row of edging stones and dropped curbs, seems to suggest that, that bit is a continuation of the path. What the legal stance to that is, I don't know.

Either way you are blocking the dropped curb, which, if nothing else is inconsiderate, anyone with a pushchair, wheelchair etc is forced into the road.

The fact the road doesn't really go anywhere and cars only use it to park.

I now see what you mean about the continuation of the path, I don't know why but I never really saw that before.

Check out who owns the road, is it council or private? If private where does it start? If council why do lines not follow kerb? Whilst you should not park over a dropped kerb, this is not what you are being done for so in this instance its a red herring.
