Advice please on closing Ing direct a/c

I have a web saver and 2 direct accounts, and i want to take all my money out of Ing,as it is so awkward transferring in and out of the web saver, and takes days to get to the web account!! Would the last day of the month, when interest is added, be a good idea, then leave £1 in the direct account and when the following month interest is added,(pennies!!)take that out too? Can you just take out what's left so it is closed,or do you have to ring Ing up,which i don't want to have to do,and ask them to close it down officially?
Advice from anyone who has closed this complicated account, that was so good when it first opened, would be much appreciated!!

I have a normal ING online account and the higher interest web saver account, when I opened my account they had changed it to instant transfer so you should be able to switch cash from web saver to normal account same day then just set up a transfer to your bank account, generally the best time to do this is on Monday so that you don't have your cash in limbo during the 'dead' weekend banking days.
AFAIAA interest is computed daily and added to the account monthly so the only real loss of interest is between ING and your other bank.
What many people are doing is leaving just a couple of pounds in their ING accounts rather than closing them.
Sorry if my answer is of no help.

Thanks for replying Nilrem and of course your answer was of help. But I would prefer to close it down completely so i don't have another useless account to keep an eye on.I know i do not want to deal with them any longer,no matter how much they put the interest rate up.Like a lot of people I am fed up with their promise of it being simple and although you can transfer money quickly to and from one's bank it is the time it takes to clear to get to the websaver that makes it such hard work.0

From the faqs on ING website
"5. How do I close my ING Direct Savings Account?
To close your account call Customer Services on 0845 603 8888, Monday - Friday 7am - 11pm, Saturday - Sunday and Bank Holidays 9am - 9pm, who will be able to help you."
It does not matter which day you close as interest is accrued daily so when you phone to close you will be paid up to that day.
I stiil have a small amount with ING but will also close it soon having transferred to Icesave back in Dec. Doesn't look as though they will ever compete again.0
