Can someone provide (link to?) the monetary value to the TC elements for the last 2 years? I'm struggling to reconcile TCO's figures for this year and i suspect their "final award" is incorrect, so i need to establish my position and build a case against their figures. Tia.

The element are listed on https://www.hmrc.gov.uk/tax credis - but you won't be able to work your award out using the. There's loads of tapering - differnt rates for different elements & income. Even a tax credit expert would take over an hour to do a calculation. Your best bet is to write in asking for your award to be checked. Also you can ask the Helpline for a calculation notice (different from an award notice - more detail).

If your case isn't complex you can do it in 10 minutes if you understand the rules - the tax credit manuals (with some calculation examples) is here - http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/manuals/tctmanual/index.htmI no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals.
