  • This line is so 2013 I've found!!! I blame the CV sifters as think this line is way to cheesy expecially when you've been offered and had an interview

Thanks heavens for this thread, Had to smile when I once had an interviews mobile phone ringing during an interview! and it got answered!...of all the things an interviewee is warned as sins... !!!

yeah total agree with you its such a cheesy line, if c.vs are checked properly theyd know who they thought was a suitable match and not waste peoples time. but to be invited for an interview and for them to be just plain rude is just uncalled for.

suppose there is other jobs out there ive just got to find the one where Im "the closer match" lol :)

Unbelievable! I'd have walked out of that one. Total abuse of power.

I have had two bad experiences, one was for a bar job, we sat in two seats facing each other no table, he talked to my boobs and I left half way through when he put his hand on my knee

The second was for a Management position, the guy interviewing me, shouted the questions at me, and argued with all my answers - are you SURE you worked for *********? being one of the things shouted at me. I left half way through, absolutely infuriated and got a call half an hour later offering me the job, he said it was a test and i had passed! i shouted down the phone ... are you SURE you weren't just being an a**ehole. he didn't call back.

My current boss, who is great and one of the best bosses I've ever had, was so rude in the interview (a panel of three people). He was dismissive, made jokes at my expense and was overly critical of my answers. After the interview, he rang me to tell me I'd got the job and waxed lyrical about how well I'd coped under pressure. Turns out, he's very shy and not very good with people he doesn't know. You can't judge everyone by the initial impressions although I have since told him that I thought he was a complete d*ck at the interview!

What sort of job was it?
If it was the sort of thing where you are expected to deal with "situations" and show initiative, they may have been testing your reactions.

it was just a customer service job. I can see where your coming from but to me it would of seemed awkward if i had said to the interviewer " do you mind not chewing gum because its bad manners in a interview" would of made the atmosphere a bit more icy than it already was.

Two weeks ago, I went for an interview (not a job I applied for but a response to a cv I submitted a couple of years ago).

I am currently working for a good employer but I still prefer to carry out my type of work in a manufacturing environment (which this position was).

Unfortunately the interviewers were the HR Manager and a Financial Director - which was a bad start as many of my pre-prepared questions were technically targeted at the role I would be carrying out - a financial role it certainly wasn't.

The HR girl was nice - the FD was a complete b*ll end!

He did not have a clue about the role I was applying for (some of the comments regarding health and safety were actually concerning), but when he stated, "Well let's face it, your'e not 23 anymore are you? this candidate had already made up his mind about even considering working for this lot!

That statement was more absurd because he was probably the same age as me (although I did not adorn the fake tan and hair like Swiss Tony).

The poor HR manager did her best to keep retreiving the situation, but this idiot kept digging a hole.

By this time (as I knew what the outcome of the interview was going to be) I was disputing all of this idiots comments and providing valid and legal reasoning to support my views.

He was getting agitated and then just looked at his watch and said there was no more time for the interview.

When I got home, I informed the recruiter I had no intentions of working for this (surprisingly successful multi-award winning company) although I strongly suspect I would not have been asked to return anyway :rotfl:.

I was later informed that the other two applicants did exactly the same as me:T.

The company was a filtration company in Washington - they certainly know how to filter out their candidates!

I had a interview which just went strange.

The beginning was very positive. Answered the questions well and the manager seemed very happy. There was a good rapport and she was making very positive indications to my responses.

She then asked me a hypothetical question and told me to pick one of two outcomes. I chose my outcome and explained my reasoning (essentially it was a choice between quality or quantity)

She looked incredulously at me and was entirely dismissive of my answer (i chose quality) then she escalated to rude and a touch aggressive. Thinking this was just an exercise in being challenged on an opinion i played along calmly explaining my thoughts on the matter.

Then she got down right enraged that i could not 'see the error of my ways' and i realised she ACTUALLY was totally incensed and was very close to blowing her top because i would not agree with her or change my response. She would not let it go during the rest of the interview/assessment morning and just jibed and made snide remarks throughout the whole thing.

I kept telling myself it was just an interview ploy and no one in their right mind would be so confrontational and aggressive during an interview. even when i was leaving she stopped me (by grabbing my arm and yanking me back) and asked if i wanted to change my mind on the stupid stance i had taken.

The interview feedback i got, said aloud, would have blistered paint at three paces! It was one whole page of non-constructive vitriol. My agency asked me (jokingly) if i had killed her first born as they had seen nothing so entirely vile before!
Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...
  • This threads been an interesting read. Its shocking how many companies think its acceptable to verbally abuse, insult and be plain rude to people theyve invited in for interviews, its unacceptabke behaviour
